It’s Happening at Messiah…

                April, 2024

We are now officially in spring and the Easter season of the church year. Just as spring brings new life to the landscape around us, the Resurrection promises us new life with our Creator in eternity if we are His in Christ. The Lord wants us not only to celebrate His amazing blessings to us but to share this knowledge with those who still do not call Jesus Savior, Redeemer, and Lord.  This is the mission of the Church.

RECENT EVENTS AND SUCCESSES…

  • Call Committee Update.  On March 17, Messiah was scheduled to meet to offer a call to the candidate chosen by the Call Committee.  Apparently God had other plans for His servant, because this pastor had just accepted a call elsewhere.  Now our option is to see who is available among the Seminary graduates.  Pray that if there is an issue we need to address before the Lord sends us a pastor, we resolve that; so this process might move forward.
  • Easter Treats for the Rescue Mission.  Check the bulletin board to see the lovely treats assembled by Lana Henderson and delivered before Easter to the Rescue Mission. We thank God for this ministry to children.

HAPPENING IN APRIL AND BEYOND…

  • April Collection of Personal Hygiene items for the Rescue Mission.  Among the items in great need at the Rescue Mission are personal hygiene items.  We can alleviate this need by our generous donation in the box in the narthex during the month of April. Please help us collect a good supply of shampoo, body wash, body lotion, deodorant, toothpaste, toothbrushes, razors, shave cream, aftershave, etc. Lord, help us bring blessings to our neighbors in need.
  • Monday School at the Rescue Mission, April 1st.  Having recently lost a couple team members, we could use more helpers; but we will continue to offer this blessing to the children at the Mission.  Please let Kim Mays know if you are willing to help for an hour on the first Monday of each month.
  • Carrollton Senior Citizens Club Meets on Wednesday, April 17th. Members over the age of 50 are encouraged to participate in this monthly event held for the public at our church. Arrive before noon for a potluck luncheon, bingo games, and prizes.  Here is an opportunity to welcome in our building our neighbors in the community and get to know them better over some fun activities and a meal. No need to make a reservation for this event. Just bring a potluck dish for lunch.
  • Sunday Adult Bible study. Enhance your awareness of what the Bible has to say about post Easter events.  Over the next few weeks, you will learn about all the witnesses to the resurrection of Jesus. There is real substance to our belief that Jesus has risen from the dead.
  • No Spring Rummage Sale.  It was recently announced that due to an unavailable spring date, the Rummage Sale will be held in the fall on November 9th. Helping Hands is beginning to collect items for the next rummage sale. Consider donating when you do your spring cleaning.  Donated clothing should be gently used with no stains, and Christmas items are always welcome, along with linens, household goods, books, toys and games.  Watch the bulletin for more information.
