PASTOR APPRECIATION POTLUCK - TODAY, Sunday October 13th is Pastor Appreciation Day and we will be holding a potluck dinner following the church service.
PLEASE DONATE CANDY FOR TRUNK OR TREAT - Between now and October 27 we need to accumulate around 10,000 pieces of candy for Trunk or Treat. Carrollton Eagles have already contributed close to 80 pieces. If a member applies for Thrivent Action Team funds, that will be a big help. The rest will come from our generous members. Also mark Sunday, October 27th, 2-4 pm, on your calendar to help with this community event.
HELP NEEDED FOR MONDAY SCHOOL - In order to keep offering Monday School at the Rescue Mission, we need more than Kim Mays on the team. Monday School is offered on the first Monday of each month from 6:15 -7 pm for children residing at the Mission, with a small number attending these sessions. This year's sessions will focus on a Bible verse, prayers, a brief discussion, and coloring a related picture while visiting with the children. Please let Kim know if you are able to help. Without helpers we will have to discontinue this outreach.

ANNUAL GARDEN SWAP, SEPTEMBER 15-October 15 - Messiah’s gardeners are willing to share their perennials and ground covers with those of you who need to expand your garden. SEPTEMBER COLLECTION FOR THE RESCUE MISSION - This month we are collecting personal hygiene items for the residents at the Mission: body wash, body lotion, shampoo, deodorant, razors, shave cream, aftershave, toothpaste, etc. Please be generous as the need is great. Look for the collection box n the narthex.
FALL RUMMAGE SALE - We’re closing in on our Fall Rummage Sale date of November 9th, beginning at 9:00am We are still in need of your help. With kiddos back in school it’s time to go through that unwanted stuff taking up needed space in your house and consider donating it to Messiah’s rummage sale. Please make sure any clothing is clean (no yellow neck lines, missing buttons, tears or holes, no pet hair or odors and up-to-date styles). A few of the more popular items are toys, books, DVD’s and puzzles. So if you come across some of these items during your clean-up bring them to the church. Place you gently used items in the hallway by the first classroom on the left. The last date to donate will be October 25th. Large items will be accepted the week of November 3rd. FRUIT SALE - The Valley Lutheran Booster Club’s 2024 Fruit Sale Fundraiser, begins October 3 and runs through November 8, 2024. Fruit is passed out Saturday, December 7th at Valley from 7:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. 20lb. boxes are $39, 40lb. boxes are $51, 10lb. Carton of Florida Mandarins are $35, and a mixed carton is $39. GERMAN WORSHIP SERVICE - OCT 13TH - On Sunday, October 13th, St. Loren’z monthly German worship service will be held at 11:00am in the Church, 1030 W. Tuscola Rd., Frankenmuth. Our Lord’s Prayer Sermon Series, “A Prayer for All Season,” nears its conclusion focusing on The Seventh Petition—”sondern erlöse uns von dem Bösen” (but deliver us from evil). The next German worship service will be on Nov. 10th.

THE RETURN OF THE MID-MICHIGAN LUTHERAN CONFESSIONS STUDY - It’s back! This study met for many years but has been on break for the last couple of years. Grace Lutheran Church (303 Ruth Street, Auburn) will be hosting it on the third Saturdays of the month from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., starting October 19. The Formula of Concord will be the focus! Pastor Schian along with several other area pastors will help facilitate the discussion. Both pastors and laypeople are welcome to attend. PEACE TRUNK OR TREAT - Get those Halloween costumes and candy bags ready! Trunk-or-Treating involves parents and the church congregation and groups individually decorating their car trunks with Halloween decor and passing out candy as kids stroll from car to car.
